Music

I like a lot of music, but it’s been pointed out many times that I have a type, and that’s pretty much anything with a brass section. From big band jazz pieces to ska, prog rock to little brass hits in hip hop, I’m there for it.

Every now and then I come across a song that dominates my interest – either it tells a story, has a rad bassline, or some cool progression. Lately its been Get this Back by The Blue Octavo. It’s vaguely a story; the protagonist facing down doubts, considering the possibility of failing while pursuing a passion, and doing it anyways because even in the event of failure the journey is unforgettable. The way the bass and guitar build in each verse is simple, but its like crack for my ears. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
